Curly cut by Kaycee Clark, founder of Clark & Company
Finding someone in Dallas who can cut curly hair well is harder than it should be. Plenty of salons list "curly cut" on a menu. Far fewer have stylists who trained specifically in texture and understand how curls behave: how they shrink, where they want to sit, and how to shape a cut that still works when you style it yourself at home. That gap is where things tend to go wrong.
This guide covers Dallas salons where curly and textured hair is a stated specialism rather than an add-on. For each one we have listed what they offer, what they publish about pricing, how consultations work, and how they take bookings, so you can shortlist without calling five places first.
Clark & Company Salon publishes this guide. We have included ourselves and described what we do in the same terms as everyone else, alongside other Dallas salons that specialise in textured hair. The list is unranked and ordered alphabetically.
Quick answer: where to get a curly cut in Dallas, and what it costs
Five Dallas salons name curly and textured hair as a specialism on their own website rather than carrying it as one line on a service menu: Clark & Company Salon, Curl Haven, Dallas Curl Studio, HERcurls and The Curl Spot. Only two of them publish prices.
Pricing is inconsistent and rarely like-for-like. At Clark & Company a curly cut starts at $160, with seven of its ten stylists publishing their own rate between $160 and $175 and up, and the Curly Transformation, the service for a first curly visit, starts at $225. Dallas Curl Studio publishes a Signature Curly Cut at $325 and up for new guests and $200 and up for returning ones. Curl Haven, HERcurls and The Curl Spot publish no prices at all.
The rest of this guide covers what each salon offers, how consultations work, and what to ask before you book.
How we put this guide together
Every salon here meets four conditions. Curly or textured hair is named as a specialism on the salon's own website, not inferred from a service list. The salon operates in Dallas. It has a working website and an active way to book. And there is something specific and checkable that sets it apart, whether that is a certification, a technique, or a published price.
Everything below was taken from each salon's own website, or confirmed directly by the salon, and checked in September 2026. Salons change their pricing and their teams, so treat these as a starting point and confirm when you book.
We have not ranked the list and we have not scored anyone. There is no fair way to rank a competitor's work from the outside, and a ranked list published by a salon that appears on it would not be worth much to you.
What a curly cut costs in Dallas
Curly pricing in Dallas is inconsistent, and not every salon publishes it.
Where prices are published, the range is wide. Dallas Curl Studio lists its Signature Curly Cut at $325 and up, with returning guests at $200 and up and an express cut at $125 and up. At Clark & Company a curly cut starts at $160 and the Curly Transformation, which is the first-visit service, starts at $225; the individual stylist pages publish their own curly rates on top of that, between $160 and $175 and up. The stylist's page is the figure that tells you what your stylist charges.
Several salons do not publish pricing at all, including The Curl Spot, HERcurls and Curl Haven. Where prices are published here, they are mostly given as starting figures rather than fixed ones, so you will need to ask what applies to you before you book.
Two salons here price a first curly visit differently from the ones after it, and in both cases the higher figure covers a longer appointment: Dallas Curl Studio builds in a curl analysis and styling instruction, Clark & Company a detox, deep conditioning and curl coaching. If a salon quotes you one price, it is worth asking whether follow-up visits cost less.
Why prices vary between stylists at the same salon
At some salons, including ours, each stylist sets their own prices. Clark & Company runs as a collective of ten stylists who each keep their own book, specialties and published rates, so a curly cut here is quoted as a range rather than one figure. The same service can cost different amounts depending on who performs it. We think that works in a curly client's favour: rather than taking whoever has the first opening, you can choose the stylist whose work looks like your hair.
Keep that in mind wherever you book. If a salon quotes a range, ask which stylist the lower end refers to, and whether that stylist takes curly clients.

Clark & Company Salon
Design District, at 1130 Dragon Street, Suite 170. Opened in September 2025 and run as a collective of ten stylists, each with their own book, pricing and booking guidelines.
Curly work is split by whether you have been before. The Curly Transformation, from $225, is the first curly visit: the cut, a detox and deep conditioning, curl coaching and product recommendations. The coaching is the point of that first visit: you should leave knowing what to do with your curls the next morning, not only how they look when you walk out. The Curly Cut, from $160, is for returning curly clients and covers the cut, a deep conditioner and styling. Curly Color is priced separately, from $150.
Seven of the ten stylist pages currently publish a curly service: Kaycee Clark, Jordin Fancher, Laura Pendergraft Granberry, Laurel Rains, Pryor McNairy, Rebecca Elliott and Robin Northcutt. Some of our stylists are certified in DevaCurl, Rëzo and Cut It Kinky techniques. We treat those methods as tools rather than rules: each curly cut is customised to the client's curl type, texture and hair goals rather than run to a single method. Founder Kaycee Clark, named Best Hair Stylist in the Dallas Observer's Best of Dallas 2026, came up through TONI&GUY and has placed twice in Behind the Chair's global awards for natural texture, in the top 100 in 2023 and the top 25 in 2024.
Curly cuts by Kaycee Clark, from a short crop to long lengths
Open Tuesday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm, closed Sunday and Monday. Booking is online through ScheduleAnyone or by phone, and because stylists keep separate books it is worth choosing a stylist rather than the first available slot. Extensions, smoothing treatments and colour correction begin with a consultation.
Curl Haven
3015 State Street, Suite 123, Dallas, TX 75207.
Run by Angela Hicks, who has worked exclusively with curly hair since 2005. The salon lists three texture-specific credentials on its website: Deva Certified Stylist, member of Curly Hair Artistry, and Cut It Kinky alumna.
Pricing is not published. Booking runs through a "Become a Client" process, and the site asks prospective clients to read its FAQs before requesting a date. As published in September 2026, the site states that new appointments are around three months out, so this is not somewhere to try for a last-minute cut.
Dallas Curl Studio
Inside IMAGE STUDIOS at 6050 North Central Expressway, Building 100, Suite 113. Led by Lorens, who also works under the name Ringlet Reina.
Publishes a full price list. Listed under new-guest services, the Signature Curly Cut is $325 and up and includes a cut on dry hair, a one-to-one curl analysis to assess curl goals, a clarifying treatment, step-by-step curl coaching for styling at home, product recommendations and a diffused style. Returning guests book The Reset at $200 and up, with an express cut at $125 and up and a curl set at $165 and up. Bridal work starts at $500. Olaplex bond-building and scalp treatments are available as add-ons.
The curl analysis is built into the service rather than booked separately. The site also runs a detailed FAQ covering what to expect during a curly service, how to prepare, and how often curly cuts are needed.
HERcurls
2001 South Ervay St., Suite 200, Dallas, TX 75215, in The Cedars.
Haiya is the proprietor and primary stylist. The salon works with all hair textures and types, and states its focus as curly haircuts, colour for returning clients, and curl care education. It does not offer barbering services such as fades. A hair prep guide is published for clients to read before their appointment.
Pricing is not published, and a retainer is required to book, applied to the final cost of the service.
The Curl Spot
626 Singleton Blvd., Dallas, TX 75212.
Founded by Sonnie, who describes it as "a wash-n-go salon for curly hair". The site states expertise across tight curls, loose curls and waves.
Pricing is not published, the site does not list individual stylists, and its consultation process is not described. Booking is through the site.
How consultations work at these salons
Consultation practice varies a lot, and it is one of the clearest differences between the salons here, so check it before you book.
Dallas Curl Studio builds a one-to-one curl analysis into its Signature Curly Cut, so there is no separate consultation to book. Curl Haven asks prospective clients to read its FAQs and then apply through a "Become a Client" process before a date is offered. Clark & Company sets prep instructions for both of its curly services, and the short version is come as you are: hair clean, dry, detangled and worn naturally curly, with no ponytails, clips or heavy product, and not flat-ironed or blow-dried straight. Seeing your curls as they naturally live tells the stylist far more about your texture, shrinkage and density, and how your hair actually falls. Because each stylist publishes their own booking guidelines, the rest of the terms differ by stylist. HERcurls and The Curl Spot do not describe a consultation process on their sites.
If you have had a cut you disliked, are growing out previous layers, or are working with colour-treated or heat-damaged hair, say so when you book rather than on the day, so the right amount of time is set aside.
How to match a salon to your curl type
Curl patterns run from loose waves through defined ringlets to tight coils, and the differences matter more than most salon websites let on. Experience with one curl pattern does not necessarily show experience across all textures.
Of the salons here, only The Curl Spot names the curl patterns it works across, and none of them breaks this down by individual stylist. That makes it the most useful question to ask before booking anywhere: which curl patterns does this stylist work with most often, and can I see their work on hair like mine?

What makes a curly cut different from a regular haircut
Dry cutting means working curl by curl on dry hair rather than wet and in sections. Curls shrink as they dry, so cutting wet means working without seeing where the hair will finally sit. Of the salons researched here, Dallas Curl Studio describes its signature cut as customised to your curls on dry hair. At Clark & Company the approach follows your hair rather than one fixed technique, so ask your stylist how they plan to cut yours and why.
That is the short version. We have written in more detail about how curl-trained stylists approach a cut, and how to tell whether the person holding the scissors has that training, in take care of your curls, girls.
Some of these services cover more than a cut. Dallas Curl Studio's Signature Curly Cut includes a curl analysis, a clarifying treatment, coaching and a diffused style. Check what you are booking so you can set aside the right amount of time.
Before you book: what to confirm
Whichever salon you choose, check a few things first.
Ask whether the stylist cuts curly hair dry, and if they cut wet, ask why. There are legitimate reasons, but the stylist should be able to give you one.
Seeing their work on hair like yours matters more than a general portfolio. A body of work weighted towards loose waves tells you little about how someone handles tight coils.
Find out what the appointment actually includes. Some curly services here come with a curl assessment and styling instruction as standard; others are a cut alone. What is included in the appointment is one factor to compare alongside the published price.
Check what a follow-up costs, not just the first visit. Knowing both figures tells you the real ongoing cost.
Press on two more points. Most prices here are published as starting figures, so ask whether the quote you are given is final or depends on an assessment of your hair. And ask who will actually be cutting it. A good stylist will not mind any of these questions; they should be glad you asked. Our fuller list of consultation questions is in take care of your curls, girls.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a curly haircut cost in Dallas?
Prices vary widely. At Clark & Company a curly cut starts at $160, and the Curly Transformation (the first curly visit, covering the cut, a detox, deep conditioning and curl coaching) starts at $225. Dallas Curl Studio charges $325 and up for a first Signature Curly Cut and $200 and up for returning guests, with an express cut at $125 and up. Curl Haven, HERcurls and The Curl Spot publish no prices.
Should curly hair be cut wet or dry?
Many curl specialists cut dry rather than wet, and shrinkage is the reason: a curl cut while wet springs up shorter and sits differently once it dries. Dallas Curl Studio describes its signature cut as customised to your curls on dry hair. At Clark & Company the cut is customised to each client's curl type and texture rather than tied to one method. Wherever you book, ask whether the stylist cuts wet, dry or a mix of both, and why.
How do you choose a curly hair stylist in Dallas?
Look for curly work named as a specialism on the salon's own site rather than sitting as one line on a service menu. Ask which curl patterns that stylist works with most often, and ask to see their work on hair like yours. At a collective like Clark & Company, where each of the ten stylists keeps their own book, choose the stylist rather than the first free slot.
What should you ask before booking a curly cut?
Ask what the appointment actually includes: some Dallas curly services come with a curl analysis, a treatment and styling instruction, while others are a cut alone. Ask whether the price you are quoted is final or depends on an assessment of your hair. And ask what a follow-up visit costs, not just the first one.
Booking a curly appointment in Dallas
The salons here are spread across the city: Clark & Company in the Design District, Curl Haven on State Street, Dallas Curl Studio off North Central Expressway, HERcurls in The Cedars, and The Curl Spot on Singleton Boulevard.
Lead times vary. As published in September 2026, Curl Haven's site states that new-client appointments are around three months out. The other salons here do not publish a lead time, so ask when you enquire.
We do not think curly hair needs to be fixed or controlled. Most of the time it needs the right shape, the right products and someone who understands what your curls are doing. If you are booking with us, the most useful step is choosing a stylist rather than a time. Our stylists each publish their own pricing and booking guidelines, and matching your texture to the right person matters more than getting in this week. You can book online or call (214) 242-9250 if you are not sure who to choose, and we will point you to the right stylist.
